SRH vs DC – SRH’s Batting Onslaught Overwhelms DC Bowlers in First Innings
Sunrisers Hyderabad put on an incredible display of power-hitting against the Delhi Capitals, amassing a mammoth total of 266/7 in their 20 overs. Travis Head led the charge with a blistering 89 off just 32 balls, while Abhishek Sharma smashed 46 off 12 deliveries in a stunning opening onslaught.
After being put in to bat first, SRH got off to a sensational start, reaching 50 in just 3 overs. Head brought up his fifty in only 16 balls, equalling the joint-fastest IPL fifty of the season so far. The boundaries kept flowing as SRH raced to 125/0 at the end of the powerplay – the highest powerplay score ever in T20 cricket.
DC’s bowlers had no answers as Head and Abhishek took them apart with some clean hitting. When Kuldeep Yadav finally dismissed the aggressive openers, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen maintained the onslaught. Though Kuldeep and Axar Patel picked up a few wickets, the dam had already burst.
Towards the end, Shahbaz Ahmed provided the final flourish, smashing an unbeaten 59 off 29 balls to propel SRH past 260. Every DC bowler went for runs, with Kuldeep’s 4/55 being the most expensive four-wicket haul in IPL history.
SRH’s innings featured several records – the highest powerplay score in T20s, joint-fastest IPL fifty, most sixes in an IPL innings and more. It was an astonishing display of batting might that has given DC a near-impossible 267-run target to chase.
