GT vs RR – Gujrat Titans Beat Rajasthan Royals in Last-Over Thriller
Jaipur, April 11, 2024 – Sanju Samson’s brilliant captain’s knock of 68 not out off 38 balls guided Rajasthan Royals to a thrilling 3-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the final over of a high-scoring IPL 2024 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday.
Put in to bat first, Gujarat Titans got off to a solid start thanks to a 64-run opening partnership between Shubman Gill (72) and Sai Sudharsan (35). Despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs, Riyan Parag’s blistering 76 off 48 balls propelled GT to 196/3.
In reply, Rajasthan lost openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Jos Buttler (8) in the powerplay. But Samson and Parag (76) then combined for a match-winning 130-run stand for the 3rd wicket to put RR on course for victory.
Needing 19 off the final over, Rashid Khan (9*) launched Avesh Khan for a six and four to bring the equation down to 5 off 2 balls. Rashid then pulled the next ball for another four to seal an incredible 3-wicket win with a ball to spare.
Rashid was the hero at the end, but it was Samson’s brilliant pacing of the chase that was the key factor. His third fifty of the season contained 6 fours and 2 sixes.

For GT, the Afghan spin duo of Rashid (1/18) and Noor Ahmad (0/43) were the best bowlers. But they were undone by some poor fielding, with Matthew Wade dropping Parag twice on 0 and 6.
With this win, Rajasthan have moved up to third spot on the points table, while Gujarat Titans remain in second place behind Lucknow Super Giants. Rajasthan will next face 5th placed Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.
