MI’s Innings Derailed by RR’s Pacers; Manage 176/6

Rajasthan Royals’ pace attack dismantled Mumbai Indians’ top order, but fighting knocks from Tilak Varma (65) and Nehal Wadhera (49) helped MI post 176/6 after being put in to bat first.

Trent Boult started the damage, having Rohit Sharma caught for 6 in the first over. Ishan Kishan fell for a duck after RR reviewed successfully for a catch behind off Sandeep Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav (10) became Sharma’s third victim as MI slumped to 20/3.

Mohammad Nabi (23) and Tilak Varma resurrected the innings with a 63-run stand before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Nabi to become the first bowler to take 200 IPL wickets. Wadhera then joined Varma and the two left-handers added 99 runs for the fifth wicket.

Just when MI were rebuilding, Wadhera fell for 49 to Boult in the 16th over. Varma reached his second fifty of the season before holing out off Sandeep Sharma in the 19th over.

Jasprit Bumrah (2*) and Tim David (3) were at the crease at the end as MI set a competitive 176/6. Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with 5/15, while Boult took 2/32.

Despite losing early wickets, MI’s middle-order batters ensured they put up a fighting total on the board. RR’s chase won’t be easy against MI’s quality bowling attack
