PBKS vs GT, IPL 2024 – PBKS Innings Report

Punjab Kings got off to a flying start after being inserted to bat first by Gujarat Titans at their home ground. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran gave PBKS a blistering start, taking them to 45/0 at the end of the powerplay overs.

Prabhsimran was the more aggressive of the two, smashing 21 runs off Sandeep Warrier’s opening over, including a six over third man off a no-ball delivery. He raced to 35 off just 21 balls before being caught behind off Mohit Sharma, with the score at 56/1 in the 6th over.

Sam Curran struggled for timing initially but found some form, scoring 20 off 19 balls before being trapped lbw by Rashid Khan. Liam Livingstone couldn’t capitalize on the start, being caught for 6 off the bowling of the impressive Noor Ahmad.

The Afghan spin duo of Noor and Rashid applied the brakes in the middle overs. Rilee Rossouw made just 9 before being adjudged lbw to Noor’s googly. Wickets continued to fall for PBKS as Jitesh Sharma was bowled by the left-arm spin of Sai Kishore for 13.

At 90/6 in the 13th over, it was left to the lower order pair of Ashutosh Sharma and Harpreet Brar to provide some impetus. Ashutosh fell cheaply for 3, but Harpreet Brar struck an explosive 29 off just 12 balls to propel PBKS past 140.

Noor Ahmad was the pick of the GT bowlers with 2/20, while Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan also picked up two wickets each. In the end, Punjab Kings posted 143/8 from their 20 overs, which seemed a below-par total on what looked a good batting surface.
